Membership
Membership in WELU is informal and free. You automatically become a member when you attend a lecture series, unless we are over-subscribed (maximum of 200 members). In that case, you will be placed on a Wait List until a vacancy opens up.
The benefits of membership are advance notice of upcoming series and opportunity to register as well as access to the Secure Area of the website that includes past presentations.
Members who miss registering for 3 series in a row are removed from the Members list to allow for those on the waitlist to attend.
We hope that you will plan to stay for the full program, including the Q&A period after the refreshment break. However, if you have to leave early, we request that you try to sit in the last 3 or 4 rows, so that your absence won't be so obvious.
Registration for a Series
Lecture Attendees must register separately for each of the three yearly series that they wish to attend.
Members will receive an email inviting them to register to the next series. Registration can be done in person at the last presentation of the current series, or by mail prior to the first presentation.
The cost to register for each series of six talks is $25. The following forms of payment are accepted (these will be outlined in the email inviting you to register for a particular series)
- Cash or cheque at the last session of the previous series,
- Cash or cheque via mail to the registrar (Canada Post)
- Via E-transfer to Registrar@welu.ca
Waitlist Application
There is a membership "Wait List" but the number of entries in that wait list varies. Since there is significant absenteeism, we estimate the probable attendance and fill the additional seats with people from the Wait List, in the order that they joined the waitlist. Sometimes after the first lecture we will offer seats to Wait List people, if less people attend than we expected.
Between 10 and 15 memberships lapse each year and are filled by people who have been on the Wait List the longest.
Wait List people are removed from the list if they decline or do not reply to offers for seats for 3 times in a row without accepting an offer.
The current method is for you to send via email a Wait List Request to the registrar with the following information:
1. first name,
2. last name,
3. phone # and
4. your email address

You must have registered for at least one Series before you can use this facility.
The procedure requires you to complete a simple form (found under the Secure Area menu item at the bottom of the page with the picture of the baby), requesting your full name and e-mail address. In addition, there is what is known as a CAPTCHA, a box into which you type the characters that are already displayed there. This is to prove that you are a real live person, and not a "robot". So just copy the characters exactly as you see them, capitals and lower case.
N.B. If you do NOT have an email address registered with WELU you will need to register with the credentials of your Contact, ie. your spouse.
When completed, you will receive an acknowledgement thanking you, and providing you with your user name and password. Keep these safely.
A little later, you should receive a confirmation e-mail of acceptance.
You are then free to access the secure area, and need only your user name and password for your viewing sessions from then on.
